That commitment continues today through PROTON's participation in the Program Pembaharuan Teksi MADANI Nasional, a national programme led by the Ministry of Transport to modernise Malaysia's public mobility ecosystem by introducing a new generation of vehicles to deliver higher standards of comfort, safety, efficiency and reliability. Instead of merely replacing ageing vehicles, the initiative represents an investment that will better serve passengers, drivers and visitors alike.
The initiative reflects the shared commitment of Government and industry to improve the daily travel experience for Malaysians while strengthening confidence in the country's public transportation network. It also supports the broader aspirations of Malaysia MADANI by creating better economic opportunities for drivers and is aligned to the Visit Malaysia Year 2026 campaign where a newer generation of public mobility vehicles contributes to a positive travel experience while reinforcing the country’s reputation as a modern, progressive and welcoming destination.
Designed for the demands of everyday mobility
Supporting the initiative is the PROTON S70, a sedan selected for its ability to meet the demanding requirements of high-mileage public mobility operations while delivering an experience that benefits both drivers and passengers. Its spacious cabin provides generous legroom and rear-seat comfort, allows passengers to travel in greater comfort whether for short urban journeys or longer intercity trips. A large luggage compartment also enhances practicality for airport transfers and family travel, while its refined ride quality helps reduce fatigue for drivers who spend long hours behind the wheel.
Powered by a responsive yet fuel-efficient turbocharged engine, the PROTON S70 offers the balance of performance and operating efficiency required for daily commercial use. Combined with PROTON's nationwide after-sales network and proven reliability, the model provides operators with lower ownership costs while maximising vehicle uptime. It also incorporates intelligent connectivity and advanced safety technologies that meet the expectations of today's passengers, reinforcing the programme's objective of raising standards across Malaysia's public mobility sector.
Under the programme, eligible operators will be able to acquire a specially prepared Proton S70 Premium configured for public mobility service. Offered exclusively in Ruby Red, the vehicle includes the additional equipment required for licensed public transport operations. With incentives provided by the Government and PROTON, fleet renewal will be more accessible to eligible operators.
Participation in the programme is limited to operators who satisfy the eligibility criteria established by the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD), including the possession of the necessary operating permits. Interested applicants may obtain further information at any PROTON dealership nationwide.
